What’s the difference between the FilterCart and the FilterBox?
In short, the FilterCart is best for intermittent use.
It’s a great little product, with a small footprint and very lightweight construction. This makes it easy to move and place inside tight workspaces.
If you’re looking for a unit to be employed with greater regularity, then the FilterBox is the unit to pick. It’s a heavy-duty unit with all sorts of features and benefits not provided by the FilterCart.
Expanded Answer
The FilterBox:
- Can be actuated by a physical switch, or with the use of a welding sensor clamp. With the welding sensor clamp option, the unit will turn on when the welding process begins.
- Fan start and light switch on the hood – available as an option
- LCD Display – for notification of the status of the fan, if the unit needs to be serviced, and if it is time to change the filter. This is more than what is offered by the FilterCart which has an airflow and filter life indicator to let the operator know that maintenance is required.
- Customization via the push of a few buttons: select fan delay off time for automatic start, set automatic cleaning (on or off), & timer cleaning intervals.
- Automatic cleaning of the main filter cartridge
- Dust bin (easy to remove)
Both units allow the addition of a HEPA filter.

Can the FilterBox or FilterCart be used in environments where explosive gases and dust are present?
No – neither product can be used to filter explosive dust or gases.
Do you sell High Temperature Vehicle Exhaust Extraction Hose?
Absolutely!
Do you sell Exhaust Nozzles?
We do!
Do you sell Exhaust Hose Reels?
You bet! We sell both the spring recoiled variety as well as the motor driven.
When would one need an electric motor driven Exhaust Hose Reel?
These are generally used in facilities with high ceilings and/or overhead cranes, or where high vehicles need to pass.

What is the difference between a NEX-D/DX Extraction Arm and a NEX-S Extraction Arm?
The NEX-D Extraction Arm is a great choice for dust extraction in industries where hygiene is important. The arm is equipped with an earthed ventilation hose made of FDA approved ingredients and has concealed joints and a separate easy to mount hose. This arm requires little maintenance & is easy to clean.
The NEX-D arm is not marked with the EX symbol, although it is highly suitable for use in Zones 22 according to ATEX-work directive 1999/92/EC.
The NEX-DX Extraction Arm has a double-earthed system and an antistatic-earthed ventilation hose that prevents static electricity from forming. This arm is also great for industries where hygiene is important as it too has concealed joints and a separate easy to mount hose. This arm also does not have the EX-symbol although it is highly suitable for use in Zones 21, and 22 according to ATEX-work directive 1999/92/EC.
The arm is double-earthed by the helix in the hose and through the arm system. The hose itself is made of antistatic Polyurethan.
The NEX-S Arm fulfills all of the requirement for use in environments with explosive dust & gas. It is also great for applications where hygiene is important.

What are MERV Ratings?
MERV stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value. It is used to easily evaluate the effectiveness of air filters. The scale was designed to illustrate the worst-case performance of a filter dealing with particles ranging from 0.3 – 10 micrometers. The higher the rating the greater the filter efficiency.
How do your Oil Mist Extraction Systems work?
In a nutshell, what these systems do is create a negative atmosphere inside the cavity of the CNC machine, so when the operator opens the door they don’t get a face full of oily mist. Instead of the air leaving the cabinet, air moves in. This air is then sent through a series of filters (primary, secondary, and HEPA). The coolant can then be returned to the system.
Can you guarantee a marked improvement in the quality of shop air after one of your Oil Mist Extraction systems has been installed?
We can!
What we’d do to quantify this claim is take readings of your shop air prior to the installation, and then take the same readings after the installation.
What do you need to properly quote an Oil Mist Extraction system?
We’d prefer an onsite visit, but if this isn’t possible, we can put together a decent budgetary proposal with the following:
- nameplate off each machine
- floor layout with dimensions
- if we are going to be feeding multiple machines into one system, we need to know how far apart the machine are
- type of coolant being used (oil based or water based)
- coolant MSDS sheets
- frequency of use (how many hours per day are the CNC machines in use)
- if there are multiple machines are they all being used at the same time? If not, how many are typically being used at once?
What is a Spark Trap?
A Spark Trap is a device fitted in ductwork between the extraction site and the corresponding dust collector. The Spark Trap creates turbulence in the air flow, which directs sparks towards the walls of the Spark Trap. This causes the sparks and embers to lose heat, which reduces their capacity to start a fire. They are a great addition to a fire prevention system.
What is an Explosion Isolation Flap Valve?
Explosion Isolation Flap Valves prevent a transmission of an explosion pressure wave and the associated flames from the filter to the workplace.
During normal operation the valve is left open, with the large opening angle ensuring a low pressure drop. In the case of an explosion in the filter the pressure wave will force closed the flap plate which will then be locked in position. This closed flap creates an effective barrier against an approaching flame front.
