When it comes to Nederman’s line of FilterBox mobile fume & dust extraction systems, you have a few options to choose from. We thought it would prove helpful to make a “cheat sheet” available that you can use to quickly determine which unit would be best for you.

But first, a quick synopsis on the Nederman line of FilterBox mobile fume & dust extraction systems.
These are a great choice for fume & dust extraction when mobility, flexibility and a compact footprint is important.
These units have an advanced filter control system that proves feedback regarding pressure drop with a series of LED’s as well as on the LCD display. When the air flow is too low an audial alarm precedes the automatic, motorized compressed air cleaning sequence. An integrated silencer reduces noise from the fan and outlet air. Additional protection from harmful particles is provided if a HEPA filter is installed (optional). The FilterBox is available as a mobile unit on wheels but can be fixed mounted with an accessory kit as well.
The units come with an automatic damper to prevent dust from escaping while cleaning.
It is important to note that the FilterBox is not for use in environments where combustible dust or gases are present.
Part # 12645063
FilterBox 10M Plus
Comes with a ten (10) foot 6” diameter Original Extraction Arm
The Original Extraction Arm is a “weightless” internally supported extraction arm, best suited for light or “normal” fume & dust extraction applications.
The FilterBox 10M+ is equipped with a 10 ft, 6″ Original extraction arm with spark protector and a N24 fan for a maximum air flow capacity of 600 CFM (1000 m3/h). The nanofiber media technology utilized in the extra large 183 ft2 (17 m2) cartridge is ideal for welding. It offers significant performance advantages like higher efficiency (MERV 15) and surface loading properties which results in more effective filter cleaning and longer cleaning intervals. Advantages that will impose benefits in terms of filter life, productivity and lower cost of ownership.
Part # 12645163
FilterBox 10A Plus
Comes with ten (10) foot 6” diameter NEX-MD Extraction Arm
The NEX-MD is an externally supported extraction arm
NEX-MD arms are best for medium to heavy-duty applications
The FilterBox 10A+ is equipped with a 10 ft, 6″ NEX-MD extraction arm with spark protector and a N24 fan for a maximum air flow capacity of 600 CFM (1000 m3/h).
Part # 12645263
FilterBox 12A +
Comes with a ten (10) foot 8” diameter NEX-HD Extraction Arm
The NEX-HD is an externally supported extraction arm with an aluminum hood, a fiberglass high temperature hose in the first section, followed by a PVC hose for the rest of the extraction arm.
NEX-HD arms are for the most challenging of applications, especially where high heat is involved. The extraction arms are specially designed for working environments with very heavy smoke, vapours and non-explosive dust. The hood, made of aluminium, is resistant to high temperatures of extracted air (+120°C) and has a very high capturing capacity.
The FilterBox 12A+ is equipped with a 10 ft, 8″ NEX-HD extraction arm with spark protector and a N27 fan for a maximum air flow capacity of 700 CFM (1200 m3/h). The nanofiber media technology utilized in the extra large 183 ft2 (17 m2) cartridge is ideal for use in production welding such as MIG welding, TIG welding and other GMAW welding methods. It offers significant performance advantages like higher efficiency (MERV 15) and surface loading properties which results in more effective filter cleaning and longer cleaning intervals. Benefits to your welding shop are increased filter life, improved productivity and lower cost of ownership.
For the Nederman line of FilterBox mobile fume & dust extraction systems a HEPA filter can be added to the units to provide staff with a greater degree of protection. This is of particular importance when welding stainless steel. Stainless steel welding exposes workers to hexavalent chromium, with is a particular nasty carcinogen.
Part # 12376615
High efficiency HEPA secondary filter for FilterBox
Part # 12377251
Standard Main Filter
If you have an older model, you should revert to the older replacement filter – part # 12332672. This is the standard replacement filter for Nederman’s previous generation of Filterbox mobile fume & dust extraction systems. These replacement filters are still readily available.
Nederman’s newer Filterboxes come with the 12377251 main filter, which is considerably more efficient. Using these filters, however, in older model Filterboxes will create some issues, as they have a tendance to premature wear due to their external scrim.
If you have an older unit, go with the older model replacement filter. If you’re unsure and unable to confirm the age of the unit you have, the best practice is to go with the older replacement filter model (12332672) as a fail safe.
If you have an older model, but accidentally get the new generation main filter, you can always disengage the cleaning wand. Should you elect to go this route please contact us for some advice and guidance. In truth, however, we’d advise taking the hit and buying the appropriate filter instead.
