The quickest explanation has the FilterCart being used for applications that require intermittent use.
It offers a very small footprint, and very lightweight construction, which makes it easy to move and place inside of tight workspaces.
If you’re looking for a unit to be employed with greater regularity & for heavy-duty type applications, then the FilterBox is the unit you want to chose. It offers all sorts of additional features and benefits.
The FilterBox:
- Can be actuated by a physical switch, or with the use of a welding sensor clamp. If the welding sensor clamp is used the unit will turn on when the welding process begins.
- An accessory is available to have the fan start and light switch on the hood
- LCD Display – for notification of the status of the fan, if the unit needs to be serviced, and if it is time to change the filter. This is more than what is offered by the FilterCart which has an airflow and filter life indicator to let the operator know that maintenance is required.
- Customization via the push of a few buttons: select fan delay off time for automatic start, set automatic cleaning (on or off), & timer cleaning intervals.
- Automatic cleaning of the main filter cartridge
- Dust bin (easy to remove)
Both units allow the addition of a HEPA filter.

With the FilterBox, there are in fact a few different models available, as well as several options to choose from.
FilterBox Models
FilterBox 10A Plus
- This unit is equipped with a 10’ NEX-MD extraction arm. The NEX-MD arms are 6” in diameter and offer a maximum airflow of 600 cfm.
- It utilizes a 1 hp N24 fan.

FilterBox 12 A Plus
- Compared to the 10 A Plus, this unit comes with a larger diameter extraction arm, as well as higher hp fan (N27 fan that provides 1.5 hp).
- The 10’ NEX-HD extraction arm is 8” in diameter and offers 700 cfm. It’s a more durable arm too.

FilterBox Twin A Plus
- This unit allows two operators to use a single unit.
- The unit is equipped with two (2) NEX-MD extraction arms with spark protectors & a 3.0 hp fan. You can choose between 3’ arms and 10’ arms.
FilterBox 10M Plus
- The FilterBox 10M + is equipped with a 10’ Original Extraction Arm and a N24 fan for maximum airflow capacity of 600 cfm.
